The Mouse first appeared in Steamboat Willie (1928). Ub Iwerks' design of Mickey was based on circles, which were easy to animate. Each of Mickey's hands has only three fingers and a thumb, because Disney believed that five digits were too complicated for a mouse.

Mickey Mouse is the main character of the Disney franchise and has appeared in numerous theatrical cartoon shorts, television shows, video games and merchandising. He has also been featured as a character in several Walt Disney anthology television series and has been voiced by dozens of actors, including Jerry Orbach, Estelle Harris, Charles Martin Smith and Wayne Allwine.

Minnie Mouse is Mickey's partner and girlfriend. She is usually depicted as a cute, feminine character who loves to dance and sing. She is often portrayed as a damsel in distress whom Mickey tries to rescue. She is also subject to many slapstick and rubber hose animation gags.

Scuttle (also known as Catfoot or Weasel) is the weasel sidekick of Mickey Mouse's nemesis Pete and his right-hand man. He is less intelligent than Pete and often fails to understand his plans and orders, much to the latter's annoyance. In addition, Scuttle is a more slender figure than Pete.
